“Recipe of Love” is the debut album from Colorado-based songwriter John Stegman. Each song is a well-crafted songwriting gem, with catchy melodies and solid heartfelt lyrics. The album is a sort of love “concept album” with songs about the many varied experiences of love. For example:

Maybe We Could Fall in Love” captures the moment of first falling in love, in an emotional ballad with just vocal and piano.

Losing My Mind” is a bluesy guitar-based rocker about troubled times in a relationship.

Never Had a Dream Come True” is a power-pop melody-fest about the euphoria of new love.

Are You Gonna Leave?” is a powerful song with an epic-sounding chorus about, you guessed it, a potential break-up. It’s hard not to be moved by this song.

“On a Summer Night” is a flowing piece about wanting to get away somewhere with your lover. It has lush vocal harmonies, and some have described it as having a sort of “Eagles” feel to it. A lyric sample:

So let’s go to the mountains, let’s go to the moon
Let’s go anywhere and let’s go soon
Let’s go to the ocean, just the sand and the sky
Let’s go anywhere just you and I

Want to be together where the feeling’s right
Want to feel your lovin’ on a summer night
Want to feel you touch, want to feel your light
Want to feel your lovin’ on a summer night
On a summer night

Sun and the Moon and the Stars” is a piano-based straight-forward love song. A favorite among the ladies.

She’s a Liar” A lyric sample:

She’ll break into your heart
Like a thief comes in the dark
She’ll promise you the stars
And leave you only scars
She’s a liar, she’s a liar

She’ll play you like a song
From evening to the dawn
She’ll lead you on and on
And then she will be gone
She’s a liar, she’s a liar

Mostly Over You” captures that point, after the dust of a break-up settles, when forgiveness has occurred, life has moved on, but traces of feeling remain. The chorus is addictive.

Too Far From Home” You guessed it. A love song about being away from home. Check out the chorus and its vocal harmonies.

That’s a sample of the 12 songs. John sings and plays all the instruments except drums, and the production is “ear-candy” with tight vocal harmonies, and layers of instruments. We hope you enjoy it and would appreciate any help you can give us in “spreading the word” about this album.

John lives in Parker Colorado and teaches private piano and guitar lessons. Blake Thomas (Applaudio Studios in Parker) produced the album with John Stegman. Blake mixed and mastered the album, and was the drummer/drum tech.
